When the Flemish actor Maurice Gilliams died at the age of 82 he had not yet finished Gregoria. Half a lifetime was not enough to give shape to this period of his life. Is this novel a love story? Or is it a horror story, a gothic novel? Bart Meuleman turns it into superb theatre.
