Across Europe, citizens are collectively taking control of their future through ‘commons’ – just think of energy cooperation or sharing initiatives. The new edition of the Green European Journal focuses on this third organizational form in our society, in addition to the market and the state. What is the explanation for the enormous increase in civilian initiatives? Do they contribute to the resilience of our society? And do they form an alternative to excessively pervasive marketization?
