Het TheaterFestival vangt aan met feestelijke en kritische toespraken: de State of the Union uitgesproken door een kunstenaar met renommee, de State of the Youth laat jong tegengeluid horen en ook internationaal perspectief met de State of the Other.
De eer voor de State of the Union valt dit jaar te beurt aan Fabrice Murgia, regisseur en directeur van Théâtre National in Brussel. De State of the Other wordt gebracht door regisseur, acteur en auteur Tiago Rodrigues, die sinds 2015 Teatro National D. Maria II in Lissabon leidt. Het glas wordt geheven. Iedereen is welkom!
